Educational Event Scholarship Program
Pennsylvania Three Rivers AAHAM Scholarship Program provides educational scholarships to Pennsylvania Three Rivers Chapter Provider members to attend AAHAM meetings and/or conferences.
Note: Provider member shall be defined as an individual currently employed by an entity that provides services to healthcare consumers.
AWARDS
As available funds permit, scholarship(s) in the form of reimbursement for incurred expenses will be awarded as follows:
Local Chapter Meeting Scholarship
Qualifications and conditions of scholarship:
- Must be a member in good standing - currently paid on local dues.
- Scholarship excludes co-sponsored events. Must be Pennsylvania Three Rivers AAHAM sponsored only.
- Scholarship excludes National AAHAM events.
- Must be approved prior to event.
- Scholarship is good for up to $75 towards the registration fee.
- Scholarship is only available to provider members (provider members are any members that work for a healthcare facility).
National Meeting Scholarship
Qualifications and conditions of scholarship:
- Must be a member in good standing FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR prior to event - currently paid on local dues.
- Scholarship excludes National AAHAM events.
- Scholarship is good for up to $1000 towards the registration fee and expenses.
- This is a reimbursement - will not be paid up front. Charges/receipts must be submitted to Treasurer within 30 days of event.
- Must be approved prior to attending event.
- Must attend all sessions.
- Must write an article for our newsletter post conference regarding conference experience and education received.
- Scholarship is only available to provider members (provider members are any members that work for a healthcare facility).
FUNDING THE SCHOLARSHIPS
Fundraising events will be held at Chapter meetings, the goal is to raise sufficient monies to fund as many scholarships as feasible per year.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The Pennsylvania Three Rivers Scholarship Committee will be responsible to oversee the administration of the scholarship program to include directing related fundraising activities, receiving scholarship applications, and making recommendations to the Board for award selections. The Scholarship Committee shall be comprised of the Chair of the Board who shall serve as Committee Chair, the President, and the Treasurer.
SELECTION
Applications that meet the established criteria will be considered for selection by the Scholarship Committee who will make recommendation to the Board. Selection will be based on a review of the application and the evidence of financial eligibility.
Note: Financial eligibility may be defined as expenses for conference attendance not being fully reimbursed by the applicant’s employer.
The Board of Directors will approve all final selections of a scholarship recipient. Award recipients will be notified within 30 days of the event that applications were received for.
ELIGIBILITY
Any healthcare provider member in good standing who has been a member of Pennsylvania Three Rivers Chapter for at least one year and have paid their current dues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must meet financial eligibility as above defined.
- Non-financial considerations such as applicant’s attendance, participation, and assistance in Chapter activities will be considered as well.
APPLICATION
A completed Member Event Scholarship Application should be submitted to the Chair of the Board at soon as possible prior to the event the member wishes to attend, but no earlier than 90 days prior to the event.
REIMBURSEMENT
Provider member awardees must submit to the Pennsylvania Three Rivers Chapter Treasurer proof of expenses incurred within thirty calendar days following the educational event attended in order to retain eligibility for reimbursement. Should the incurred expenses be less than the award amount, reimbursement will be for actual expenses incurred.
FORFEITURE OF AWARD
Failure to attend the event and educational sessions for which the member was awarded the scholarship will result in forfeiture of the award. Failure to submit to the Treasurer the expenses incurred for the attended event within thirty calendar days following the event will result in forfeiture of the award.
AWARD LIMITATION
No member may receive more than one award per calendar year.
